The Howell repeater is one of two VHF repeaters in Livingston County. Located three miles southwest of Howell on Cedar Lake Road, one-half mile south of Norton Road. The unit is a Motorola MR2000 transceiver with a Link Communications RCL-Club II Deluxe controller.
The frequency (on your rig) is 146.68 receive/146.080 transmit. This machine uses 162.2 HZ PL tone, and anyone can dial 911 for emergency dispatch. The repeater also has back-up power and a Digital Voice Recorder.
444.525
Located at the same physical site is the 444.525 (+ 5 MHZ offset) UHF repeater, running 100 watts at approximately 300 ft. This repeater uses a 100.0 Hz PL for access.
To use the Digital Voice Recorder (DVR) To hear message: If the station is clear, ID your station then transmit the access code and release. The repeater will read off the message headers. Count them. If your message is the second message, transmit the access code and two (2) to hear message. If the message is the first heading, transmit the access code and one (1).
Remember to always ID at the beginning and end of using the DVR.
